College radio station KTUH-FM announced today that Massachusetts-based synthpop quintet Passion Pit will perform at Pipeline Cafe in December.
The nightclub confirmed the Dec. 11 concert this afternoon, but referred questions about ticket prices and an onsale date to the show’s promoter, BAMP Project, who did not immediately respond to a request for more information.
A representative for Pipeline said tickets may be available for sale on Oct. 1, but added that any official announcement would come from BAMP.
Passion Pit’s first full-length album, “Manners,” was released in 2009. The band is currently touring the U.S. mainland with Muse.

2010 Grammy Award nominee and six-time Billboard Hot 100 chart-topping duo Hall & Oates (pictured) have added Honolulu to their list of 2011 tour dates, according to posts on their website and concert tour website Pollstar.com.
Local promoter Hawaii Pacific Entertainment is behind the March 4, 2011 concert at Blaisdell Arena; when contacted earlier today, HPE CEO Lincoln Jacobe confirmed his company was helping to produce the show and said a formal announcement would be made next week. The Hawaii stop of the “Do What You Want, Be What You Are 2010″ tour will take place after multiple performances in Japan.
Jacobe did not state what ticket prices for the show would be, saying only that tickets would be available to the general public in early October.

Former Hawaii child star Bruno Mars (pictured) was arrested in Las Vegas early Sunday, according to a report by the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Mars, whose real name is Peter Hernandez, was apparently in a bathroom at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino when he was confronted by security. According to the report, Las Vegas police “did not know … what drug Mars possessed.”
On Saturday, Mars posted the following message on Twitter:
“Come See Me @ the Hard Rock 2nite!! VEGAS!!”
There was no mention of the incident on his Twitter account as of Sunday night; apparently the singer/songwriter was bailed out of jail, however, since he was able to post, “I’m in Dallas rite (sic) now looking foward to meeting some folks @ the radio stations.”

The ska, roots and reggae show with Chris Murray Combo, Black Square and Go Jimmy Go was a major happening down in Waikiki. By the time Go Jimmy Go came on, it was wall to wall people, so warm and packed in the room that you were lucky to have already found a chair, spot of floor or wall to stake out for your own.
The crowd was wide-eyed and enthusiastic in the early hours; by the end it was a mixed bag of surfers, ska-lovers, locals, and tourists.
It’s lucky that we walked in early, when Black Square was going off, with its party-time horn section and in your face attitude, because the opening band hit just the right combination of good music and welcoming crowd. Members of the band kept the energy high when they would break off and skank their way through the crowd. Josh 86, singer and bandleader, was in fine form, smiling his way through a set that lasted nearly an hour.
Chris Murray has been an independent flag-bearer for rock steady, ska and reggae music for at least 10 years now. He has a solid discography, including two albums out in the past three years, one solo album and one with his Chris Murray Combo. The harmonies from his Combo were nowhere in evidence Friday night, but he confidently sang his way through a smooth set of uplifting, classic music.
The band started out early with Murray’s “Rocksteady,” and that pretty much set the tone for the night — easygoing and entertaining..
Murray was part of a combo on Thursday night, with a bass player and drummer. Thursday night’s show was the first in three for Oahu: Thursday night in Waikiki, Friday night at Anna’s in Moiiliili, and Saturday night at Breaker’s in Haleiwa.
Go Jimmy Go has been killling it for years now, and Friday night was no exception. The bar was packed from front to back for their exuberant set.
Get the details on Chris Murray’s appearances on Friday, Sept. 18 and Saturday, Sept. 19 in our Nightclubs calendar at www.staradvertiser.com/tgif.

Fourteen years ago this week, No Doubt was back in Hawaii and the bands meteoric rise to international superstardom was still in it’s early stages.
The band had been around for nearly a decade when their album, “Tragic Kingdom,” and the first single, “Just a Girl,” were released in October 1995, but things didn’t really take off until the end of 1996 — shortly after this performance on Oahu.
