“Hawaii Five-0” will hold an open casting call Aug. 28 for adults of all ages and ethnicities to be considered for speaking roles and as background extras.
The “Five-0” producers are aiming for authenticity when it comes to portraying Hawaii, said Rachel Sutton, the casting agent for the show. From hot surfers to aunties in oversized muumuu to sunburned tourists — everyone is welcome, she said.
“We definitely want to present Hawaii in the most realistic way and the reality of Hawaii is all of these different looks of people,” she said. “We need to fill the whole palette.”
No experience is necessary. The casting call will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 28 at Aloha Tower Marketplace. If possible, bring a “headshot” photograph and a resume but plan to be photographed.
“Hawaii Five-0” premieres with a sneak preview Sept. 13 at Sunset on the Beach at Waikiki. The network premiere will be Sept. 20.

Lindsay Lohan arrives at the MTV Movie Awards in Universal City, Calif., on June 6.

LOS ANGELES, Calif. » Lindsay Lohan’s alcohol monitoring bracelet went off after the actress appeared at Sunday’s MTV Movie Awards, a source familiar with her probation said Tuesday.
The alert could result in another appearance by Lohan before a judge whose patience has worn thin with the actress for repeated missteps during her probation.
It remained unclear why the bracelet went off. The source, who was not authorized to speak publicly, told The Associated Press that Los Angeles Superior Court Marsha Revel would receive a report on the alert soon.
Lohan’s attorney, Shawn Chapman Holley, said she is looking into whether a violation may have occurred. The bracelet is designed to test the skin for alcohol every half hour by sampling a person’s perspiration.
Lohan has been required to wear an alcohol monitor since May 24, when she appeared before Revel days after missing a court hearing. The “Mean Girls” star is due back in court on July 6 when the judge will decide whether Lohan, 23, violated her probation because of her missed appearance.
A violation could result in Lohan being sent to jail.
Revel refused to ease Lohan’s drug and alcohol testing restrictions at the May hearing and ordered the starlet to wear the alcohol monitor.
Deputy District Attorney Danette Meyers, who is handling Lohan’s case, said she was aware of “an issue” that would come to the court’s attention, but did not have further details.
Lohan appeared at the MTV awards show on Sunday. She also attended at least one of the show’s after-parties. She covered up the ankle monitor on the show’s red carpet by wearing long pants.
The actress has been on probation since August 2007 after pleading guilty to misdemeanor drug charges and no contest to three driving charges. Despite spending 84 minutes in jail and performing mandatory service at the county morgue, Lohan has repeatedly struggled with the terms of her sentence. In October, a judge extended her probation for another year but Meyers warned the actress she was facing jail time if she violated her probation.
The extension was the third time Lohan escaped punishment after her alcohol-education program notified the court the actress had violated its rules. Two of the instances
were described as misunderstandings; the third was chalked up to a busy work schedule.
Chapman Holley said Lohan missed the hearing last month because her passport had been stolen while the actress was at the Cannes Film Festival.

‘Twilight’ eclipses bleep-happy MTV Movie Awards

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. » Sandra Bullock was kissing and telling at the MTV Movie Awards.
Bullock, wearing a glittery black dress, received a standing ovation as she accepted the MTV Generation Award in her first live televised appearance since she split with unfaithful husband Jesse James earlier this year. The 45-year-old actress used her acceptance speech to clear up tabloid rumors — “No. 1: I’m not dead.” — and smooch Scarlett Johansson.
“No matter what you might have seen or heard or read lately, I love what I do,” vowed Bullock, “and I’m not going anywhere.”
Bullock was presented with the show’s highest honor by her “All About Steve” co-star Bradley Cooper, “The Proposal” co-star Betty White and inexplicably Johansson, the wife of her absentee “Proposal” leading man Ryan Reynolds. When asked why she was there to help hand over the trophy, Johansson hinted she wanted to lay one on Bullock, who awkwardly obliged.
“Now that we have done that,” said a smiling Bullock, “can we please go back to normal?”
Bullock was fresh off her surprise appearance Saturday night at Spike TV’s “Guys Choice” event in Culver City, Calif., but that show won’t be broadcast until June 20. She also received a standing ovation there when she accepted the “Troops Choice” award for entertainer of the year, voted on by members of the military and presented by Robert Downey, Jr. Read more
