While not everyone participated in the theme party, those who did dress up as their favorite salad ingredient got in for free.

DJs Nocturna and Modboy, pictured above, returned to Bar 35 last weekend to host another installment of “80s Pop Musik” at the bar.

This month’s featured guest was La Diosa Swimwear, which is owned by local resident Mariel Garrido Melchor and her husband, John. The label launched in March, with the swimsuits designed in collaboration with Argentinean designer Marina Bornand. Read more

Pohukaina Street is the place to be this weekend for Independence Day parties at Pipeline Cafe and the Warehouse.

On Friday, Pipeline presents “IndepenDANCE 2010″ with special guest DJs Bjorn Niclas, Ashley Wallridge and Mike Shiver. The club goes hip-hop on Saturday, with a special guest set by DJ Drama during its weekly “Epic Saturdays” party.

Also on Saturday, the Warehouse presents “Energy” with DJs Space Cowboy, Big Daddy Dave, Hoshi, G-Spot, Kaii and Jaegurl. Wear red, white and blue (all three colors) and save $3 off cover; otherwise it will cost you $10 to get in between 10 p.m. tomorrow and 4 a.m. Sunday.

0520_humanitarianNew Zealand-made Wild Rock Wines celebrates their U.S. launch with a series of humanitarian happy hours, with proceeds going to SurfAid International in support of the organizations efforts in malaria education and prevention, sustainable clean water and sanitation projects, and other community-based health programs connected through surfing.

Co-sponsored by Billabong, the launch parties will include prize giveaways and pro surf photographers Jordan Stallard and J.T. Gray showcasing their work, as well as cinematography by Dave Homcy.

Louis Vuitton Regional VP Dale Ruff, left, Mary Chang and Hawaii International Film Festival Executive Director Chuck Boller were three of the akamai guests who arrived fashionably on time as the Halekulani Hotel and its parent company, Mitsui Fudosan, celebrated the 25th anniversary of the hotels reopening with a reception for more than 400 guests last Friday in the Halekulani Ballroom.

Guests enjoyed gourmet hors doeuvres prepared by seven top chefs, Hawaiian mele by Nina Kealiiwahamana, and smooth jazz by Matt Catingubs all-star quintet. Read more
